Diamond Peaks Mountain Bike Patrol is an all-volunteer non-profit organization, whose goal is to promote responsible mountain biking and the “Rules of the Trail’ set forth by the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA).

Promoting the Northern Colorado Mountain Biking Experience

You love mountain biking. You care about mountain biking issues in Northern Colorado. You don’t have much desire to become a Certified Bike Patroller. An Outreach Membership is perfect for you. Not only will you meet other people who enjoy throwing a leg over a bike and riding until their hearts are content, you’ll also get to volunteer in the community and help make sure mountain bikers have a home in Northern Colorado for years to come. Following the ideals developed by IMBA, Outreach members become vital contributors to DPMBP. (And, ummm, don’t tell anyone, but Outreach members have been known to have a bit of fun too. Ain’t that why we ride mountain bikes, anyway?)

Here is a basic list of expectations for Outreach members:

  • Have an interest in Outreach activities (i.e. Talking with trail users during an Outreach Day at a local trailhead, hosting the tent at Lory State Park Mountain Biking Day, volunteering to work an event like the terribly boring Tour de Fat, helping build a trail or fix one that has been neglected, attending Singletrack Social group rides, etc.)
  • Attend all City Council and Larimer County Commissioners meetings.  (Just kidding! Can you imagine how bored you’d be…)   We, however,  would like you to help us provide a voice for local mountain bike advocacy.
  • We strongly recommended that you become a member of the International Mountain Bike Association if you aren’t already.  Get out the credit card and  visit:  www.imba.com  today. Cost for Basic Membership: $30.00 which includes some great benefits.
  • Pay annual dues: $13 ONLINE or $10 in person by downloading the FORM here if you choose to go this route.  Membership includes t-shirt, water bottle, discounted patrol jerseys/vests and discounts at local bike shops.

Working to Preserve the Trail Experience

You love mountain biking and you care about helping other mountain biking enthusiasts to enjoy the trails as much as you do. Certified Mountain Bike Patrollers work to assist other on the trails in medical and or mechanical emergencies. You will have the opportunity to educate trail users of proper etiquette using IMBA’s Rules of the Trail, maintain contact with local land agencies regarding trail conditions or incidents, and work side by side, ride by ride, with Outreach members on advocacy and trail work.
